Times are really hard, young and old are all in a race to make ends meet. On Autoxpat, we salute the survival instincts of Lagosians and Nigerians in general. What we do not salute is the alarming rate at which In-traffic trading has increased in the metroplois. In the last couple of months, there has been a wave of robbery in go-slows and gridlocks, these robberies are carried out by hoodlums who sometimes disguise as hawkers.

This was what informed the Light up Lagos project initiated by the Akinwunmi Ambode administration. Additionally, the risk of accident occurring is gradually on the increase as these hawkers come so close to vehicles such that they get in the way of moving vehicles in a bid to make a sale. some have landed in hospitals when chasing after a car.

An UTOXPAT crew narrowly evaded a potential crash along Iju road on Thursday while trying to avoid colluding with one of the hawkers. These hawkers seem to be oblivious of the danger in hawking in traffic gridlocks and go-slows. Unfortunately, immediately  these hawkers are arrested by the KAI brigade, they rally around again and return back to the hawking trade. some have had deadly clashes with law enforcement agents and it seems there is more to this hawking business than meets the eye. Here is calling on the Lagos State Government to put more bite in its enforcement drive and to find a more pro-active remedy to this challenge.
