Following the increased campaign by the corp marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr.Boboye Oyeyemi in support of the technology, some members of the lower chambers of the National assembly have restated their opposition to plans by the Federal Road Safety commission to introduce speed limiters to the country and force it on motorists. It will be recalled that the lower house on February 25th summoned Federal Road safety corp marshal Boboye to give explanations why the device should be introduced to Nigerian Motorists. A member of the House Mr.Philip Shaibu representing Edo state said the house was not against introducing measures to check excessive speeding, he said however that the speed limitars are obsolete and are being brought to Nigeria after the system had failed in other African Countries such as Kenya. He noted that worldwide, the practice has to use “SPIDER TECHNOLOGY” which are installed along highways, intersections and traffic lights.” The spider technology is preferable, besides, how do you expect Nigerian motorist to pay #36,000 to have an outdated device installed on their vehicles? we are even told that it can only work on injector vehicles and excluded vehicles-fitted with carburetors. so, how far can we go with this?
Autoxpat is working to get the views of the Federal Road Safety Corps on the subject and the canvassed “SPIDER TECHNOLOGY”.
